February Staff Member of the Month - Mary Smith

Mary Smith was nominated for her passion for her job in Kids Zone! She is always friendly and is beloved by many of the parent's whose kids she takes care of here at the Y.

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA?

I decided to work at the YMCA because my sister works here too. She came home and told me all the fun she had while working at the Y and I thought it sounded amazing. It is by far one of the best decisions I've made. I have loved getting to work with other staff and members of the Y.

How has the YMCA impacted your life?

The YMCA has made such a big impact on my life. I have gotten to meet so many amazing people while working here. I've always been a bit of an introvert and working at the Y has made me take a step out of my comfort zone and meet new people.

What should this community know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

I think the community needs to know about all of the amazing classes that are offered at the Y. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

How have you witnessed the YMCA Mission in action?

I've seen the Y's mission in action out in our community with all the amazing staff who volunteer to help out at community events.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

I'm proud of myself for reading 86 books in the last year!
